DIY Bunny Butt Wreath Tutorial

This DIY Bunny Butt Wreath is a fun and inexpensive way to liven up any door, wall or fireplace for Spring. Follow our step by step directions with just a few easy to find supplies and you’ll have a festive decoration in no time!

Here’s what you’ll need to make this Bunny Butt wreath:

bunny butt wreath supplies

Bunny wall decoration (wire backing) – grab a cheap one at the Dollar Store or other discount store. You’re only going to be using the base, so it doesn’t matter if it’s not your taste.
Fluffy white yarn
Colored yarn – I like a variety of pastel colors.
Scissors
Ribbon, for hanging

Now to assemble the bunny butt wreath:

Remove any decorations from the bunny form. You should have a wire or foam base to wrap your yarn around.

You can remove any inner wires for a “wreath” shape or cut the ears off and hot glue them to a wreath foam, but I liked the filled in design of this bunny wreath.
Add your ribbon for hanging the wreath now. I tied a loop and then slip knotted it directly onto the wire base.
steps to making a bunny butt wreath
Start with the ears, tying the yarn securely at the base on one ear and wrapping it around. Repeat for a thick double layer of yarn on each ear.
Wrap the yarn around the base of the bunny head. Every 10 wraps, secure a knot around the edge of the bunny form to ensure the yarn doesn’t shift.
Once you have fully covered the bunny form, move onto making the tail.

Cut a 10″ piece of colored yarn and lay flat on your hand. Wrap the remaining yarn around 2-4 fingers at least 3″ wide and several layers (as shown).
Tie the 10″ piece of yarn securely around the front loops and then cut the yarn loops to form the pom-pom.

Trim the excess yarn to shape the pom-pom into a bunny tail – do not cut the 10″ piece of yarn yet.
When the pom-pom is shaped to your liking, use the 10″ piece of yarn to securely tie the tail to your bunny. Trim the edges and you’re done!
