DIY Valentines Project: Clothesline Heart Frame

Happy Valentine’s Day!! Hopefully you will be showered with love and Valentines today –  and if you are looking for a fun way to display them, then I have the perfect DIY craft for you. This DIY Valentine Clothesline Heart Frame can be used to display your beautiful Valentines, favorite pictures or just as decor using the hearts in the instructions.

Materials:

Picture frame
Jute twine
Cardstock with various designs
Mini clothespins
Chalk paint
Paintbrush
Scissors
Hot glue gun

Instructions:

1. Begin by painting your photo frame with a layer of chalk paint in your choice of
colors. We used a pink color. You can use other types of paint you might have on
hand, but chalk paint requires only one coat, dries quickly and gives a matte finish.

2. While the frame is drying, cut out heart shapes from various pieces of cardstock
paper. Cut out one heart to use as a template so that all of your hearts are roughly
the same size. (If you are planning on displaying Valentines or photos, you can skip this step.)

3. Once the frame has dried, turn it over and use hot glue to attach strings of jute twine
at a slight angle at three different points across the frame. Be sure to leave enough
space so that your hearts can hang freely without touching the other lines when
suspended by the mini clothespins. You can view the photo for reference on how to
space your lines.

4. Space out the hearts (or photos or Valentines) and hang them from the lines with mini clothespins. You can
stagger them and turn them any way you like until you get the desired effect.

Pro tip: Looking for a way to print small photos that would look perfect on this frame? We love our HP Sprocket printer. It prints photos sized 2″x3″ and *bonus* you can print straight from your phone!! (Because that’s where most of our photos live, right???)

Pin for Later!!
