I participated in an Ambassador Program on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Brancott Estate Wines. I received product samples to facilitate my review as well as a promotional item to thank me for my participation.
I am always pretty honest with you guys that, while I definitely like wine, I am not a real wine connoisseur. I pretty much like what I like and don’t really pay attention to how much a wine costs or if it is “trendy”. I tend to stick with my tried and true favorites until someone introduces me to something new and then I might add it to my list of go-to wines.
I had built up my list of reds pretty well – I have a nice number that I like and am comfortable serving if we have company. I’d been wanting to branch out a bit with my white wine selections when Mom Central sent over two to try. Both are from Brancott Estate’s “Flight Song” collection and I really liked both of them!

The first one I tried was the 2013 Sauvignon Blanc. I don’t usually pay attention to the descriptions, but read this one which was described as having hints of grapefruit, passion fruit, sweet snow pea, and lemon. I actually found that description to be pretty accurate (although I’m not really sure I got the snow pea in there). I sampled my glass with a few crisp apple slices and some cheese and it was a perfect pairing. I closed my eyes and could totally picture myself sitting next to the pool, relaxing in the summer sun. This was quite an accomplishment considering it was snowing at the time!
The following day, I sampled the second bottle which was the 2013 Pinot Grigio. This one is described as having floral hints of nashi pear, sweet lemon, white peach, guava, and citrus. I wasn’t sure if I would like this one as I am not a fan of overly sweet wines. I actually loved it and found it more tropical than sweet, if that makes any sense. I paired my glass with a snack of almonds and some dried fruit and really enjoyed it. I made a mental note to add the Pinot to my list of summer wines perfect for the beach.
I love that both wines are naturally 20% lighter in calories than the brand’s regular wines so I can treat myself with a little less guilt!
