While we were at the Disney Social Media Moms Conference last week, my family had the opportunity to catch DisneyNature’s newest movie, Bears. Bears follows a mother bear and her two cubs through their first year of life and offers an up close (and I mean really up close) look at the challenges and triumphs they experience as they struggle to survive. Catch a quick preview here:
I will admit that I am a bit of a documentary junkie. My family, however, is not and there may have been a little apprehension on their part about how much they would enjoy the movie. Within a few minutes of the movie’s start, I looked over to see both my son and husband literally sitting on the edge of their seats as the two fuzzy bear cubs left the safety of their den for the first time. Disney does a spectacular job of creating a documentary that tells a story you cant help but get drawn into. From the breathtaking scenery to the oh-my-gosh-how-did-they-get-so-close shots of the cubs from just after birth, you feel like you have been given a once in a lifetime view into a the very private world of bears. While there are a few tense moments here and there, the movie is perfect for kids of all ages (as well as their parents).
BEARS is the perfect movie to spark an interest in nature and animals (especially brown bears). To help keep that curiosity going and encourage additional exploration, Disney has out together a great packet of information and fun activities that can be enjoyed by everyone in the family!
I viewed BEARS while at the Disney Social Media Moms Conference. I was under no obligation to post about it and all opinions are my own. Seriously – it’s a really good movie!!
