When I was a kid, my parents had a bookcase in their bedroom that had a very eclectic selection of books on it. It had everything from C.S Lewis to Kahlil Gibran’s The Prophet. Mixed in with the other paperbacks, I discovered a copy of Raymond Moody’s Life After Life when I was probably about 8 years old. I read it and was exposed to the idea of NDEs (Near Death Experiences) for the first time – and I was fascinated.
That was the beginning of my lifelong interest in people’s accounts of what they experienced when they were pronounced clinically dead and then resuscitated. So many of them seem to have had similar experiences – rising up out of their bodies, being able to see what was happening below and then experiencing a bright and peaceful life. Some report having
interactions with family members who have passed and other have related seeing beautiful lands that they have difficulty describing.
When I was offered the opportunity to have an advanced screening of Angel Studio’s movie, After Death, I responded with an easy and enthusiastic YES PLEASE! I was even more excited when I discovered that After Death features interviews with New York Times best selling authors, doctors, scientists, and near-death survivors including Don Piper (90 Minutes In Heaven), Dr. Mary Neal (To Heaven and Back), John Burke (Imagine Heaven), Dr. Jeffrey Long (Evidence of the Afterlife), and Dr. Raymond Moody (Life After Life).
What I especially like about After Death is that it includes interviews with a variety of different types of people. Some are medical professionals, some are atheists and some even say they didn’t have the best experience. Some come at the experience from a purely scientific standpoint while others were very spiritual prior to having the NDE.
Because Angel Studios believes that this movie could have such an impact on those who see it, they don’t want anyone to miss out because of the cost of movie tickets. Just like with Sound of Freedom, they are allowing people the option to “pay it forward” and purchase tickets for those who might not otherwise be able to see After Death.
Here’s a sneak peek of the movie trailer. Check it out and then go grab your tickets to see After Death in theaters starting Friday, October 27th!
Many thanks to Angel Studios for providing a screener of this movie for this review. Opinions are 100% my own.
