Just before the holidays hit full force, we received an Echo Show to review from Amazon. We are no strangers to Alexa – we have three Dots, two original Alexas and an Alexa-enabled speaker. We depend on them for quite a bit already and even write our own skills for them. But the Show has taken the whole Alexa game to the next level! Immediately, everyone wanted to claim it for their own little corner of the house. But I held my ground and insisted it go in the house’s true hub – the kitchen.
Here are my top five reasons why I love having the Echo Show in the kitchen.
The Echo Show is perfect for cooking from a recipe. No more trying to prop up my phone or tablet or trying to scroll to see the next step. The Echo Show will search and find several recipe options, allow to choose which one, and then take you step by step through it completely hands-free.
The Echo Show partners with our security system and allows me to see who is at the front door or in the driveway without having to leave what I am doing. (And this is one of the main reasons we will be getting another Show for my office. I LOVE this feature!)
The Echo Show allows me to watch videos, movies or TV shows in the kitchen without getting food all over the remote. Since we are already Prime Video users, having the Show in the kitchen means I can continue watching my favorite show without having to strain to see the living room TV or getting raw chicken juice on the remote. Ewwwww, right?? I can also watch YouTube videos or catch up on my favorite shows on Hulu. The 10 inch HD screen is crystal clear.
The Echo Show has a great speaker and is perfect for playing music. One of my favorite things to do while I’m cooking is listen to music. Just like the other Alexa devices, the Show can stream music and personally, I think the speaker is as good as some of the other wireless speakers I have around the house since it has Dolby processing. Plus I love being able to see the lyrics on the screen when listening to a new song. I’m kind of famous in my family for absolutely butchering the lyrics to songs, so maybe this will help me shake that reputation.
The Echo Show keeps me from losing my voice. If you have kids who are always off in some other part of the house when dinner is ready, you are going to love this last feature. Usually, I have to go to the stairs and scream at the top of my lungs that dinner is ready. Then the dog starts barking because I’m yelling and things start boiling over on the stove and it’s all just a hot mess. Me trying to get dinner on the table is already chaotic enough, I don’t need to run around the house and try and find family members! Now I just use the “drop in” feature and let everyone know that dinner is ready without all the yelling.
These were my top five reasons why I LOVE having the Echo Show in the kitchen but there are many more. The fact that I can make video calls with Skype or the Alexa app or audio calls to anyone with an Echo. I can see upcoming events on the calendar and get the latest news. I’d love to hear what your favorite features are! Wait, you don’t have an Echo Show?? Well then, you definitely want to head over and enter this giveaway. It runs until 1/17/19 and I-C will randomly select winners from all program entries and Amazon will facilitate fulfillment of the winning prizes of 11 winners. Ten folks will win Echo Dots and one grand prize winner will receive an Echo Show.
See it in action!!!

That is really neat! I have never seen that before! That would be so neat to have with kids in the house for sure.

I got one of these to try it out and we ended up with three in various rooms across our house. I love that I can verbally add to my shopping list while I cook!

This is really nice and handy to have, specially if you are cooking and you need to follow up and check the recipes all the time ! What a great thing !

oh that last reason made me smile.. considering the kids are not too far away in our home at anytime, and we have no dogs barking over me, i never understand why i need to raise my voice to make myself heard or call them a zillion times, but that is how it is, so i totally get that you love that convenience
