Support Your Health BEFORE You Get Sick

This post was sponsored by Proctor & Gamble as part of an Influencer Activation and all opinions expressed in my post are my own.

Based on my social media feed, the winter ickies (flu, nasty colds, etc) are already hitting hard all over the country. Like most people, I have my rituals that make me feel better when I get sick. But I find that the best habits I can get into are the ones that help me stay well and support my health BEFORE I get sick. What is it they always say? An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure!

Many of my favorite ways to support my health can be found at Walmart. I even took advantage of their awesome pickup service and stayed in my nice warm car while picking up these items.

And rest assured that I am encouraging Jay and Josh to adopt some of these preventative habits as well. Most moms will admit that having a sick kid or husband at home is almost as bad as being sick herself! So I’m stocking up on enough of my favorite goodies to share. Things like:

Dial Complete Antibacterial Foaming Hand Wash

I’m a huge fan of good old fashioned hand washing. But handwashing works best when it’s done with soap. I love Dial Complete Antibacterial Foaming Hand Wash because it kills 99.99% of germs but is still gentle on skin. The fact that it is made with antibacterial ingredients means it’s killing all those nasty germs that could make us sick. And I am a little in love with the fresh scent as well.

Align Dualbiotic Gummy

I’m someone who subscribes wholeheartedly to the notion that your whole body health starts in your gut. I know when my internal balance gets thrown off, I feel horrible and seem to be more susceptible to whatever yuck is getting passed around out in public. While I try to eat a good variety of fermented and probiotic foods, during the winter I like to supplement with an added boost especially when it is a great tasting gummy like Align’s. It contains a prebiotic fiber called inulin that basically feeds the good bacteria in your system – and it also contains less than a gram of sugar, so I’m not undoing any of the other good habits I’m trying to develop.

Metamucil

Another way I can support my digestive system is with Metamucil. I love the Metamucil Cinnamon Thins since they are the only leading brand that contains naturally sourced psyllium fiber that helps promote digestive health and regularity. I know that travel tends to throw my digestive process into chaos and love that I can grab a few thins as an on-the-road snack and support my system as well. The plant-based natural psyllium fiber helps to curb my hunger so I’m able to pass on the fast food drive through and make a better choice. And Metamucil uses Stevia and all natural colors and flavors, so nothing is going to irritate my digestive system any further.

Vicks VapoCool Severe Medicated Drops

And if I do wind up catching the cold that seems to be making the rounds, I depend on Vicks VapoCool Severe Medicated Drops to help me find relief. I’m a total baby when it comes to a sore throat and I need something that is going to give me the most relief I can get. I would seriously ice my sore throat if I could. While logistics make that a bit tough, the cool relief of Vicks VapoCool action is the next best thing. It may not be able to cure a sore throat, but it helps cut the pain so I can drink the fluids I need and get the healing sleep that will aid recovery. I can’t really ask for much more than that!!

What are your favorite things to do to keep yourself and your family healthy? I’d love to hear them!!
