Duck Dynasty fans – get that popcorn popping! The Blind is a new movie hitting the theater this weekend that you don’t want to miss. Thanks to Tread Lively, I had a chance to screen The Blind before it was released. Opinions are, of course, my own.
The Blind is a powerful true story that showcases God’s redemptive power to change our lives when we surrender to Him! It will only be in theaters for a week, so if you want to see it on the big screen, grab your tickets NOW.
Long before Phil Robertson was a reality TV star, he fell in love, started a family, and began to spiral out of control. THE BLIND shares never-before-revealed moments in Phil’s life as he seeks to conquer the shame of his past, ultimately finding redemption in an unlikely place.
Please be aware, because of the nature of Phil’s issues, there are scenes depicting drug and alcohol use as well as violent outbursts. These are essential to telling his full story and are done tastefully and only when necessary. Keep this in mind when choosing to bring children or others who may be sensitive to these occurrences.
What did I think? Well, to be perfectly honest, I have never watched Duck Dynasty nor am I familiar with the Robertson family beyond having seen Sadie compete on Dancing with the Stars. Obviously, I know WHO they are and what their business is, but beyond that, I went into this screening with no other knowledge about them and was concerned I might not connect with this film because of that.
I’m happy to report that the movie’s story and recreating of Phil’s early life stand on their own, even if you’re not a Duck Dynasty fan. The portrayal of the characters (well, real people) was well done and moving. Not only did I become invested in the outcome of their stories, I was actively rooting for Miss Kay and Phil to work things out and live happily ever after! Feel free to bring along all your friends and family to see The Blind, even if they don’t watch Duck Dynasty.
