Tips for Keeping Your Healthy Resolutions
The New Year is a typical time when people make resolutions for the upcoming year. Many times those resolutions have to do with maintaining or improving their health, whether that means losing weight or just taking better care of their bodies. New Year’s resolutions often include things like eating fewer “junky” foods, working out more, drinking more water or being better about taking healthy supplements. People usually start out well, but then slowly let their new habits fall by the wayside. I’m excited to bring you some tips on how to keep those healthy resolutions going strong throughout the whole year thanks to our sponsored partner, Zoganic!
Analyze what went wrong with last year’s resolutions.
If you are like me, you may see the same resolutions popping up year after year. Rather than just vowing that THIS is the year you are finally going to do x, take a few minutes and analyze why you didn’t keep working at your resolution last year. Was the goal too big? Did you not really want whatever it was? Did you set the resolution but not think about how you were going to get it done? I’m all for letting the previous year go and starting fresh, but before you wipe the slate clean see if there is anything you can learn from last year’s mistakes.
Set specific (not broad) resolutions.
Rather than saying “I’m going to workout more this year”, pick a more specific and measurable resolution. Perhaps your resolution might be “I am going to work out a minimum of three times a week this year.” Or instead of “I’m going to lose 50 lbs this year” decide on a realistic number to lose each week (like 1-2 lbs) and make that your benchmark. (By the way, if you lose just a pound a week, you will actually lose over 50 lbs in a year!)
Set up support systems to help you stick with your new year’s resolutions.
Once you have identified what your specific resolutions are, set up systems to help you succeed. If working out is your resolution, sign up for a class with a friend who will call you out if you skip it. If eating more vegetables is your resolution, sign up for one of those meal delivery subscriptions that includes lots of veggie sides with their meals. Make succeeding as easy as possible!
What does this look like for me?
One of my own resolutions is to support my health by drinking more water and being more consistent about taking my vitamins and supplements. I know that I feel 100% better when I do both of those things, so why I am not better about it? First, because I find plain water really boring to drink. I’d much rather have a soda or flavored coffee to be perfectly honest. I’ve tried doing the fruit-in-the-water thing but fruit tends to get eaten up pretty quickly around here! And I’m just really bad at making myself take my supplements. I hate taking pills (especially a whole handful of supplements) and rarely remember to bring them with me if I’m away from home.
So I am setting myself up for success with the help of Zoganic. Zoganic is a powdered supplement that can be mixed into water. I love that it is made from 100% organic fruits and vegetables* and that I can just mix it into the water I should already be drinking and sip it as I work, drive or even watch TV. The four flavors not only make my regular water more interesting, they also provide my body with ingredients that help support my overall wellness, immunity, energy and digestion. Zoganic makes incorporating this healthy boost into my lifestyle completely effortless. And I have already tucked several of the packets into my purse for when I am out and about.
I can mix up the flavors (orange, coconut, pineapple, or berry) based on what I feel I need the most support in at the moment: immunity, energy, digestion or overall wellness. And while I am using Zoganic to help me also reach my goal of drinking more water, I love that I can add it to a smoothy or other beverage if my family needs some support as well.
