T.J.Maxx/Marshalls Back to School Shopping Haul

Recently, my friends at Mom Central sent me a $50 T.J.Maxx/Marshalls gift card and asked me to document how far I could make it go at my local store.  Some of you might be scratching your heads and thinking that it’s a bit late in the season for Back to School shopping.  (Those of you who know me IRL know that I am an obsessive planner and wouldn’t have been able to sleep if I hadn’t had all of LJ’s school clothes bought by August.)

Turns out that quite a few moms wait until the last minute to shop. A recent survey showed that as many as 60% of surveyed moms waited until after August 1st to purchase their back to school items.  Folks are taking the economy onto account when buying as well.  In a recent Mom Central/T.J.Maxx and Marshalls survey of nearly 1,000 moms, almost half (43%) name value or prices as the most important factor with the second highest factor being quality (40%) when it comes to BTS shopping and a whopping 80% said rising costs will impact this shopping season.

All this points out the importance of getting the most for every dollar, and T.J.Maxx and Marshalls are a great place to do just that.  I was excited when a T.J.Maxx opened in my town several years ago and I stop in often since their inventory turns over quickly – you never know what you might find there!

I headed into today’s shop hoping to get some pajamas for LJ and maybe a few fall decorations for the house.

Right away, I saw a section dedicated to Halloween decor – lots of cute stuff here!

On my way to the Boy’s department, I came across their Halloween costumes.  LJ is now a size 8 (seriously!!) which means there usually isn’t much to choose from for him.  T.J. Maxx had a BUNCH of size 8 costumes – at really reasonable prices!

Love this skeleton one!  It glows in the dark.

How about an astronaut one?  It’s heavy and padded and would be warm on a cold night.

Tons of toys if you want to get a head start on Christmas shopping….

Finally, the Boy’s section!

Go Pack!!

Warm, cozy P.J.’s!

I love their fall decor!

The gourmet food section is a great place to grab stuff for gift baskets or hostess gifts.

I could spend hours in the shoe department!!

So, what did I come home with????

All this!!

I got: two pair of Carter’s PJ’s, two fall dish towels, a Halloween candle decoration (complete with flameless candles), and a plastic reusable cold drink cup.  The grand total was $50.64.  If I had paid retail, it would have cost $82.36!  Not bad, huh??

I wrote this review while participating in a campaign by Mom Central Consulting on behalf of T.J.Maxx and Marshalls and received a gift card to facilitate my review and thank me for taking the time to participate.
