You’ve probably been noticing a new theme here on Wisconsin Mommy. I’ve been reading and learning as much as I can about how to have a healthier home. From the foods I feed my family, to the items we use daily, we’ve been trying to get rid of unnecessary chemicals and other unhealthy junk. So many of the things that are bad for us have just slipped by and snuck their way into everyday life – it’s kind of scary.
Having a healthy home is important to me for a number of reasons. We’ve certainly started looking more closely at the things we bring into our home after having a child. Add to that a child with allergies, eczema, and asthma, and you really start looking at what is surrounding us! I’ve replaced many items I never thought twice about before – shower curtains, water bottles, even my own nail polish. What is it Oprah always says? “When you know better, you do better.” As I learn about new dangers to my family, I take action and replace them with safer alternatives.
I love that so many businesses and stores are popping up to help us find safer, healthier options for our homes. One of my new favorites is MightyNest.com. Wouldn’t you know that it was created by two parents! MightyNest.com is a great place where you can learn more, get advice and support in your quest to be healthier, AND find lots of safe, non-toxic items – all in one place. Thanks Stacey! I heard a quote this weekend that resonated with me. “It’s not about perfection, it’s about progress.” So yay for baby steps!

While I can control what is in my home, I can’t control where I live and living a big city can have its effects. So grateful that I can choose to have healthy, non-toxic stuff in my home. It all counts!
