Have you seen that TV ad for IHOP’s new summer pancakes? It seems to come on our TV about every five minutes, especially during breakfast! The images of the Jelly Donut Pancakes was too much for LJ. He started begging to go try them. As luck would have it, IHOP reached out and offered to let us give them a try on them. We piled in the car and headed out for a “breakfast for dinner” night.
We decided to each order a different variety so we could try them all. (Our waitress told us that’s what most families are doing – it’s just too hard to choose one!!)
LJ got the Jelly Filled Pancakes(of course). They are fluffy buttermilk pancakes filled with layers of luscious raspberry jelly then topped with glaze, more raspberry jelly and powdered sugar. They really did taste like jelly donuts!
Jay got the Banana Graham Nut Pancakes. They have sliced fresh bananas grilled inside buttermilk pancakes layered with marshmallow cream, graham cracker crumbs and crushed honey-roasted pecans then topped with cinnamon cream cheese. These might just have been my favorites!
I got the Tiramisu Pancakes. They are buttermilk pancakes and sweet mocha cream topped with a drizzle of chocolate, whipped topping and a dusting of cocoa powder. They were not as sweet as I had feared they would be and I really liked the delicate flavors. Plus chocolate – yum!!
You can either add two of these special (limited time only) pancakes to any combination meal, like eggs and bacon, or grab a stack of 4 for only $4.99. I honestly don’t know that I would be able to eat four of these – they are chock full of fillings and are quite filling. They may make a good dessert to your meal rather than a mail course if you are not a real sweets-loving person. IHOP is entering into its 55th year in business and what better way to celebrate than with these special pancake treats?
