So Little J was walking down the stairs today singing to himself (which he often does when he is in a good mood). The tune sounded slightly familiar so I strained to hear the words…
Everywhere we go-o,
People wanna know-o,
Who we are,
So we tell them…
.
“Where’d you learn that song?” I asked puzzled. I was pretty sure it hadn’t been on any of the shows he watches or any of the music we listen to.
.
“Boot camp!” he announced proudly. “We sing it when we are marching.”
.
Now, Little J has a very vivid imagination and loves to play pretend, but I was puzzled how he would a) know what boot camp was and b) learn a song from it. Maybe my ex-Marine husband had taught it to him???
.
“Where did you learn that song again?” I asked.
.
“Boot camp,” he replied again impatiently. “We sing it when we are marching from one place to another.” He was very earnest about his explanation and did not seem to be kidding at all.
.
Hmmm. Maybe I should try another angle.
.
“So when were you at boot camp?” I asked.
.
“Mom, you know! You took me there.”
.
Now I was really puzzled.
.
“What do you do there besides march?” I inquired.
.
“Um, learn about animals and do activities,” he replied.
.
Suddenly the light dawned…ZOO camp!!
.
Maybe my ears aren’t as healed as I thought they were!!
Dana says
Our children would get along so well. Dawson sings the same song, however he learned it from the Frosted Flakes commercial. Yeah… it’s GRRRReat…!
