My favorite season is here!! I love Fall – the crisp air, the pretty leaves, the sniffles. Okay, I don’t love the sniffles. But I do love finding new Fall favorites to make my Fall even more fun and I’m sharing a bunch with your today. This post of Fall favorite food finds (try saying that three times fast!!) is sponsored by BabbleBoxx.
I’m really good about drinking water during the summer since the heat makes me thirsty. But even though I know that it is just as important to drink water once the temperatures drop, I need some added incentive to get my daily intake down. I’ve found that flavored waters are a great way to motivate me to drink my daily amount. A new favorite is Trader Joe’s Organic Herbal Flavored Waters!
I don’t love overly sweet flavors and the Trader Joe’s Flavored Waters come in two herbal flavors that are subtle and delicate enough to satisfy my palate without being overpowering: Organic Lemon Ginger and Organic Lemongrass Spearmint. They are super clean with zero calories, zero sugar, zero sweetener and tons of refreshing flavor! And since I’m at Trader Joe’s all the time already, they are super easy to pick up there.
I have been trying to be better about my eating and making sure I get enough protein even when I’m on the go. One of the ways I’ve been doing that is by hard boiling eggs and keeping them ready to go in my fridge. (They sell hard-boiled eggs in the grocery store but I refuse to pay extra for something I can do so easily myself!) I actually bout a really cool egg cooker that takes all of the guesswork out of making perfect eggs but I still hate peeling them!
Seriously, I was throwing half of the egg away because it was sticking to the shell and that did not seem very frugal! I was wishing for a way to make peeling eggs easier! Then I discovered Negg®. Negg is an egg peeler and the name is a mashup of the words “naked” and “egg” because that’s what a peeled egg is, right? The Negg makes peeling your egg fast, easy and fun. You just put the egg in the device and then shake it. Fun, right??? And I’m not the only one who thinks so – the Negg is the #1 hard-boiled egg peeler on the market. You can grab one for just $14.95 and it’s made right here in the USA, so you can feel good about that too.
So I’ve already caught my first cold of the season and it was a doozy! I’m talking about a full week of hacking and blowing and – well, I’ll spare you the snotty details. Ever since I was a little kid, I have craved noodle soup when I’m sick. The problem is that I get bored with the same old soup after about the second day. That’s why I’m so psyched to add The Noodle Soup Oracle: Hundreds of Possibilities for the World’s Favorite Comfort Food by Michele Humes to my cookbook collection!
But this isn’t just a typical cookbook – it’s more like a choose-your-own-adventure book (remember those???). You pick your noodle, pick your broth, pick your protein and then your veggies and extras. There are so many possibilities, even I won’t get bored!!
I love that the book breaks things down and makes them easy – there are even instructions for making over boxed broth so if you’re sick like me, you can do things a little easier. The pictures are gorgeous and make me feel like I can out-do even my favorite restaurant. I’m tackling the Pho recipes next!!
Another favorite Fall comfort food in our house is pasta. We’ve already lightened up the pasta a bit by experimenting with things like chickpea pasta and other blends, but I hadn’t messed around with our favorite alfredo sauce until I saw that RAGU came out with a new . The wizards at RAGU replaced the heavy cream with milk and cauliflower which kept all of the creamy goodness but cut the fat and calories in half! You can find this delicious sauce exclusively at Walmart.
Looking for a new recipe to try Ragu on? Try this delicious !
My family loves dessert and ice cream is one of our favorites. Since I’m always looking for additional ways to sneak real fruit into their diets, I am sharing my one simple ingredient solution: Fruitons®!! Fruitons are a fun and easy way to get some extra fruit into your family. You can sprinkle them on salads, cereal, granola, yogurt or our favorite – ice cream!! They can also be used to replace any sun dried fruit in recipes. Heck, I like them so much I just snack on them plain at my desk.
I hope you found some new Fall favorites while reading through mine. Have a great Fall find that you think I should know about? I love trying new things – let me know what else I should be trying in the comments.
