As I promised in my last post, I am going to talk about what I think is one of the coolest features on the Motorola Xoom (at least that I have discovered so far). Now, I’m not saying that this is the ONLY cool feature – there are lots! I will be showing many of them to you over the next six months.
Warning: Those of you with Verizon wireless service and/or the very tech inclined probably know about this feature already. I, however, had never been introduced to anything like this and thought it was great!
Ready?
The Motorola Xoom (and apparently several other Verizon smart phones as well) can be used as a wireless hotspot for up to five devices.
What does this mean exactly? It means that you become your own little wireless network!
Why is this handy? Ever been to a blogging conference where everyone is on the wifi connection at once and it gets reeeeeaaaaly slooooooow? Not only can you have lightning fast 3G (soon to be 4G!) connection speed, but you can share it with four of your best buds. Just think how popular you will be….
Also, ever been in a hotel room, set up your laptop, and tried to log on only to find that the hotel wants $15 a night for wifi? (Just had that experience recently.) Guess what I did? I booted up my trusty Motorola Xoom and created my own wifi – take THAT major hotel chain!
So, am I loving my little mobile hot spot? Yes, thank you very much, I am!
I am a part of Verizon’s Midwest Moms program. I was given a Motorola Xoom and six months of service in exchange for sharing my journey with all of you. All opinions expressed are my own.
