During my travels, I’ve stayed at a Loews Hotels for business a number of times and been very impressed. Their staff is always top notch and very professional. It’s the kind of place where you truly feel like they have thought of everything – great spaces to work, clean and streamlined rooms, lots of electrical outlets and also a ton of charging ports for all your electronics.
When Loews invited me to Chicago to experience how they are making summer family travel fun as well, I was intrigued!
Yes, it’s true! One of my favorite hotels for business travel is also a great destination for family travel. Josh and I headed down to Chicago via the train and arrived a bit before the regular check-in time. We stopped by Loews Chicago, hoping to stash our bags with the concierge while we took in the sights. The friendly clerk behind the desk informed us our room was ready and we were welcome to check in early.
As part of the Urban Explorer Package, Josh and I received fun backpacks with a scavenger hunt, pens, a compass, a notebook, sunglasses, a water bottle and a stuffed cow. (The cow is actually Mrs. O’Leary’s cow from the children’s song abut the Great Chicago Fire and is a main character in the scavenger hunt.)
There are cards with clues about different famous landmarks in the city and families are encouraged to take a picture of Mrs. O’Leary’s cow in front of the different locations and post them on social media with the hashtag #LoewsChicago. There is even a giant screen in the lobby where you might see your Instagram photo pop up! (I did!) The package also includes free breakfast for the kids and cookies and milk at night.
In addition to the fun backpack scavenger hunt, Loews Chicago has a few other tricks up its sleeve when it comes to keeping the kids happy and busy. The lap pool has kickboards and floaty rinds and wings in case the kids would like to splash around a bit. If the kids can’t bear to leave their favorite furry friend at home, they can come along for the trip! Loews allows up to two pets per room for just a small additional fee. They even have a pet room service menu!
Loews Chicago is perfect if your kids are little OR if they are teens.
If your kiddos are still little, the Loews Love Kids program offers perks like nightlights, cribs with crib sheets, and childproofing kits. There are tons of “kid-friendly” options on the food menus as well. If your kiddos are more of the tween or teen variety, the hotel offers wi-fi, teen-only places to eat and even video game consoles that can be checked out and used in the rooms. (This was a perfect solution for us when I need to take an hour to get a little work done and didn’t want Josh to be bored.)
One of my favorite things about Loews Chicago is its location. We felt like we were in the middle of everything we wanted to do. We were just a quick walk from Navy Pier , the Magnificent Mile, and Millenium Park, and enjoyed the Navy Pier fireworks display from our river view room in the evening.
You can connect with Loews Hotels on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. You can also visit their Chicago location’s website to see what fun packages they are offering at the time of your visit. Headed to the Shedd Aquarium? There’s a package for that! Want a credit toward food while you stay? There’s a package for that! Bringing your honey for a quick getaway or driving down and want to be able to use your car? There are packages for those too! No matter what your needs are, Loews Hotels has got you covered!!
We were guests of Loews Hotels at their Chicago location for the purpose of writing this post. As always, all opinions are our own.

My brother is moving to Chicago so I know I will need to stay there and the Loews looks like the perfect centrally located spot. I wonder how long it would take from NY by train or car.

The Loews Hotel looks like a great place to stay in Chicago. Well, actually, anywhere there is a Loews Hotel would be a great place to stay. The cleanliness of the premises is impeccable. I love their friendly staff too. We sometimes do staycations in Loews Hotel Vogue in Montreal.
