If you had ever told my young, hip, twenty-something self that someday I would get excited about dishwashing detergent, I would have called you crazy! Growing up, the dishwasher was just something that was there – and saved me from having to wash a lot of dishes by hand.
Then I got married and Jay and I moved into an apartment that had a super small kitchen and no dishwasher. I never realized how much I loved a dishwasher until I lived in a place that didn’t have one! Granted, it was just the two of us so it wasn’t horrible, but I still missed it. When we went house shopping, we made sure the house we bought included a dishwasher!
Not long after moving in, we noticed that the very loud dishwasher that came with the house was not doing the best job cleaning the dishes and we purchased a new, much quieter model. I was pretty happy about that when LJ came along! We were happy campers until the formulation for dishwashing detergent changed. Suddenly, we were having issues with our dishes not getting completely clean again.
I’m all for saving the environment and not putting harmful chemicals into our water – BELIEVE ME! But I was also feeling pretty wasteful running the dishwasher and then hand washing most of the dishes again afterwards. I tried just about every brand of dishwasher detergent out there! I kept hoping someone would come up with a solution – a detergent without the harmful chemicals that still got my dishes clean with just one washing.
