If you and your family are looking for a feel-good, family-friendly movie, you need to go see The Mulligan. It is a limited-release movie that will only be in theaters April 18th and 19th. You may need to rearrange a few things to be able to catch it, but it is well worth the effort.
If you are like me, you may have re-evaluated the kinds of entertainment you are consuming. After all the turmoil and negativity of the last few years, I no longer have any desire to participate in media that either feeds off of those feelings or contributes to them. I go to the movies to feel better, to be uplifted and to support my mental health, not to get exposed to more violence or negative messages. SO many of the movies I have been enjoying over the past few years have been Fathom Events, and The Mulligan is too.
When the folks behind The Mulligan reached out, I’ll admit that the stellar cast was the first thing that caught my eye. I’ve been a fan of Eric Close since his days on Without A Trace. (Hey, his character was named Fitzgerald – how could I not be a fan?) Then I got hooked on Nashville, where his character wasn’t always the nicest guy, but he played him so well! He plays the main character in The Mulligan and once again knocks it out of the park. Pat Boone, who I grew up listening to, is also a major character, so I knew this was going to be a great movie and I raised my hand to get involved.
The movie schedule had a few shake-ups (hasn’t everything over the past few years?) and plans to meet the cast didn’t pan out the way everyone had hoped. But the team was so kind as to send me an autographed copy of the book and a special video surprise that left me speechless!!
I don’t want to reveal too much about the plot but here’s what I can tell you after having screened the film. The Mulligan is a compelling and heartwarming story of second chances that plays out on a beautiful golf course. (I may have stolen that from their promo materials. *wink wink*)
Check out the trailer – it will tell you everything you need to know without ruining anything.
Make sure you grab tickets NOW! Remember, The Mulligan is only showing on April 18th and 19th.
