Calling all my fellow American history buffs – have I got a movie for you!! Something to Stand For hits theaters today and it is worth seeing. If you love true stories, you’ll love this collection of real-life tales of American Heroes, all narrated by Mike Rowe!
Join America’s favorite storyteller on an epic journey to the heart of Washington DC. Drawing from his blockbuster podcast “The Way I Heard It,” this cinematic tour de force will take viewers to the frontlines of the American Revolution, World War II, the Civil Rights movement, and more.
The way this movie is presented is a bit different but in a good way. First, you don’t necessarily know which American’s story is being told as you hear it. If you’re like me, you’ll be trying to guess as the story unfolds and many of them may surprise you. Second, Mike Rowe does ALL of the dialogue – every single person. This could have come off a bit weird, but he somehow makes it work seamlessly. (The lipsyncing skills on display are truly impressive – perhaps these actors could give lessons to some of today’s pop stars.)
Something to Stand For is a great movie to catch just ahead of Independence Day and can be enjoyed by the whole family. Keep in mind that there are several wars portrayed and if you have young kids, that might not be appropriate for them.
