Practice Some Winter Self Care

I always love when my friends over at BabbleBoxx send a box full of goodies for me to try out. (This post is sponsored by BabbleBoxx.) This month, they sent over some items that it feels like were picked out just for me! When I think of winter and self-care, the things that come to mind are exactly what I found when I opened my box.

I realize it’s only the middle of November, but it is already feeling like winter in these parts. We’ve had snow several times (and more coming tonight I hear), the ski hills are already open, and it gets dark at noon. Okay, not at noon but far too early in my opinion. When it gets like this outside, I tend to cocoon up at home and try to take extra good care of myself so I don’t either burn out with all of the extra holiday stresses that pop up or get run down and sick.

One of my favorite things to do is curl up on the couch with my heated blanket, a good book, a good snack and a cup of hot tea. It was like someone was reading my mind! I opened my box to find a good book, a good snack and lots of coffee and tea.

I fell in love with reading “middle school” level books when I was teaching and I’ve never really stopped. Newberry Medal-winning author Kate DiCamillo has a new book out and it became an instant #1 New York Times bestseller! Louisiana’s Way Home from Candlewick is great novel about a girl in a small Georgia town who is struggling to find out who she really is. I don’t want to spoil any of the story for you so head over and grab your own copy at candlewick.com and use the code CANDLEWICK to receive 25% off any of their books (U.S. only – sorry!).

I get cold as soon as I stop moving around so a hot beverage is a must when I’m curled up with a good book. Red Diamond has got me covered no matter if I want coffee in the morning, a midafternoon black tea break or even a relaxing green tea. Red Diamond has developed a great relationship with one of the largest tea importers in the country, so you know you are getting only the best with both their black and green teas. And if you love coffee the way I do, you will appreciate that Red Diamond offers a delicious cup of coffee because the beans are only grown at high altitude, hand picked and small batch roasted. I’m pretty sure this 11 oz. bag of Red Diamond Columbian Ground Coffee is going to be really appreciated at our holiday gatherings. Find out where you can get your own at http://reddiamond.com/productlocator.

And since no book binging session is complete without a little snack, SMASHCRISPY is perfect for satisfying that sweet tooth. It reminds me of those crispy rice treats mom used to make but with a fun variety of flavors – Cinnamon Churro (my favorite), Strawberries & Cream, and Mint Chocolate Chip. They are made from all natural ingredients and are free of gluten, nuts, soy and dairy! You can grab our own at smashmallow.com and use the code SNACKSMASHCRISPY for 25% off!

As much as I try to take care of myself, sometimes I do still wind up feeling a bit under the weather. When I can feel the yuck creeping in, I reach for Pure Synergy. Pure Synergy Rapid Rescue has nine SuperPure organic and tested immunity supporting extracts. It contains both of my go-to yuck fighters – echinacea and elderberry! And since health really does start in the gut, Pure Synergy Enzyme Power is another must have for the winter months. It boosts digestion, nutrient absorption and utilization, and provides gut microbiome and immune support.

Grab some natural reinforcements at https://www.thesynergycompany.com and use the code PURESYNERGY15 to get 15% off through 12/31/18 – offer cannot be combined with any other offers.

And when I can’t breathe, I am particularly miserable! My food tastes bland, I can’t sleep and am just a total grump. I rely on Neo-Synephrine to help relieve my nasal congestion and sinus pressure so I can function during the day and get some healing sleep at night. I keep Extra Strength on hand for those really bad times, Regular Strength for when I’m starting to feel better or have some mild hay fever, and Mild Strength for any kids down to age 2. If you love saving money like I do, grab a coupon at http://neosynephrine.com. Then you can purchase it at Walgreens, WalMart, Amazon and other major retailers.

What an amazing self-care compilation! I could definitely have used this back when I lived in the “cold states”.

Some great products here. Let me just say some of the best books are “middle school” level. Nothing wrong with that! I love a book by a fire with some warm apple cider. Thanks for the post!

That’s such a diverse selection of goodies you get in your BabbleBox! That must be such a thrill. Focusing on self care is especially important at this time a year. So it’s great to see they send you things to make yourself feel cozy and pampered. We just moved to Florida from Colorado to escape the cold. But seeing your photo by the fireplace makes me miss that.

Self care is important all year round especially during Winter as we tend to feel more “low” and sluggish

You just inspired me to what to give to my girl friends. This winter self-care pack or box is just brilliant. I can also imagine myself reading a book and enjoying a hot cup of coffee. Thank you for sharing this.

A lot of people get sick in the winter so this is very good advice. Self-care year round is important but especially now.

Getting sick in the winter is something I don’t want to go through. I don’t know why but it seems it takes a longer time to recover from an illness during the winter. It sure looks like Babblebox has health and wellness in mind in the products they sent you. The teas and the medicines would really come in handy!
