The Grand Geneva Resort in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin

You may recall that my friend and travel buddy, Mel, and I recently did a little girls’ getaway trip to Lake Geneva, WI. While we were there, we were hosted by The Grand Geneva Resort and Spa. Our experience there was so amazing, it needed its own blog post!

Let’s start with a little background about The Grand Geneva Resort. I had mostly heard about its beautiful golf course (that’s what happens when you have a family of golfers) and that it had an amazing spa. What I didn’t know was that the resort actually started in 1968 as the first Playboy Club Hotel in the United States. This attracted some big names like Sonny and Cher and even the legendary Bob Hope. And of course, Hugh Heifner and plenty of Playboy Bunnies could also be found on the property.

In 1993, the Marcus Corporation purchased the property (which had been operating as the Americana Hotel since 1982) and it underwent a complete renovation. The hotel’s 355 guest rooms, golf courses, and property grounds were all redone and an outdoor fireplace lounge (Embers Terrace), a day spa (the WELL Spa + Salon), Timber Ridge Lodge & Waterpark, all-suite family-friendly lodging and 29 new villas ranging from studio to three bedrooms were added.

Mel and I stayed in one of the two bedroom villas and it was a great way to relax, spend some time together and still each have our own space. The entryway was equipt with storage and a bag all packed and ready for the pool. One advantage of the villas is that they share their own pool, apart from the rest of the resort.

The hall continued to the first bedroom and bathroom, then into the fully stocked kitchen with island seating. That opened into a two-storied living area with a fireplace and pull out couch. The second story is open to the second bedroom/loft which can be closed off with barn doors. A staircase off of the front hall leads up to the loft/second bedroom. That bedroom also has its own full bathroom.

We loved that the villa had a fully furnished kitchen area and large, comfy sitting area. We enjoyed relaxing a bit and whipping up a snack or drink. The villas really are perfect for a girls’ getaway since they sleep up to 8 (depending on which size you choose) and are the perfect space for relaxing and connecting.

And speaking of relaxing, we had the opportunity to check out the Well Spa and it was ah-mazing!!! The spa has such a relaxing vibe from the moment you walk in. The faint scent of essential oils, the rich wood decor and the soft music all combine to lift the stress right off of you as soon as you enter. Once you have gotten ready for your treatment, you can wait in the relaxation room (which is perfectly named! We both experienced the aromatherapy massage and absolutely loved it. We opted to include a paraffin foot treatment which was just the icing on the cake.

The Grand Geneva Resort also boasts beautiful golf courses (it almost made me wish that I golfed – almost.

Of course, the pool is a great place to relax and unwind while others in your group spend time on the golf course.

The ChopHouse restaurant was delicious – read more about that particular gem in my wrap up of places you need to visit in Lake Geneva!

Huge thanks to Grand Geneva Resort and Spa for hosting our girls’ getaway. I know we will be back again!
