With the weather turning colder, staying in and watching a movie at home becomes more and more attractive (at least to me!). I had the opportunity to screen Surprised by Oxford and it was the perfect movie for curling up on the couch, sipping a mug of hot cider and curling up under a blanket. Engaging and thought-provoking, it didn’t feature shoot ’em up scenes or car races but rather kept the viewer’s interest with dialogue and beautiful scenery.

Caro Drake, a brilliant but emotionally guarded American student, arrives at the University of Oxford with the goal of attaining her PhD. Through a turbulent friendship with a charming young man, she begins to open herself up to mystery, vulnerability, and love.
