My Not So Iron Stomach

dramamine logo

This post is part of a compensated ambassadorship with Dramamine but all opinions and stories of upset stomachs are (unfortunately) my own.

When I was a kid, I had an iron stomach. It wasn’t that I never came down with the stomach flu – believe me I did! – it was just that I didn’t get sick to stomach unless I was sick. Gross things didn’t make me puke. (Faint, yes. Puke, no.) I could even read in the car! My grandparents lived about an hour and a half from our house and I would read books the entire drive there. In fact, I would get annoyed when we left to come home after dark because that meant I couldn’t read. I was also a HUGE roller coaster fan and would ride ones that had upside down loops over and over again without even taking a break. Small boats in stormy weather might scare the pants off of me but they didn’t bother my appetite.

It never even occurred to me that this would ever change.

The first thing to go was the ability to read in the car. I’m not 100% sure when the change took place, but I began noticing that I would feel slightly off or queasy if I read in a moving vehicle. Fast forward a few years later and suddenly I was finding myself feeling off if I road backward facing in a car or train. (Once I forgot and road the train to Chicago facing backwards AND worked on my laptop. That did NOT end well!!) The worst was when I went to eat at one of those revolving restaurants at the top of a tall building. I ordered my over priced steak and by the time it came, I was about to lose the appetizers I had scarfed down earlier. Honestly, I was hardly even aware we were moving, but somehow my stomach knew.

I started noticing I felt a little off on long car rides if I was in the passenger seat (sitting in the back wasn’t even an option!) and God forbid I pulled out my phone and tried to check emails – ugh. Anyone who knows me knows that I prefer not to take medication unless it is really needed. I hate side effects and anything that is going to slow me down with drowsiness is only to be use as a last resort.

Luckily, Dramamine® offers a solution that works for me. It’s formulated with natural ingredients, like ginger. (There was this one time I tried eating straight ginger to settle my stomach. That was not a good plan, but that’s a whole other blog post!) Dramamine® Non-Drowsy Naturals contains the clinically-tested ginger dosage required for preventing and treating motion sickness, and it doesn’t burn going down! Can I tell you how much I wish I’d had this stuff when I was headed to that rotating restaurant???

If you can relate to any aspect of my motion sickness journey, you’ll want to learn more about Dramamine® Non-Drowsy Naturals. You can do just that by checking out their website. You can also download a coupon to save a little off of your purchase here!

Thank goodness you found Dramamine. I imagine motion sickness feels similar to morning sickness. I hate that queasy feeling.

Thankfully I don’t get motion sickness but my oldest does. It’s so hard going on long trips but thankfully we’ve found that one pill does the trick and makes his stomach feel better!

I used to be fine in the car for long periods. Now i get an upset stomach after an hour. I will have to pick some of this up for our next road trip.

I love that they have this kind of product. I don’t get motion sickness, but this is great for those that do. I know a few that do, so I’ll be showing them this.

As a child I was never able to read in the back seat of a car. At the time we never thought of it as a form of motion sickness but it likely was.

Motion sickness is terrible and can make a road trip unpleasant. I feel unwell sometimes after reading in the car as well. This sounds like a product that everyone should have with them.
