So the bathroom is finally done and I did wind up going with the sage green paint. I love the look and am so glad I took the color leap! Having the Glidden tester made it easier for me to to envision what the end result would look like and gave me the confidence to just go for it.
Since I hadn’t done any serious painting since before LJ was born (that’s over seven years!), I had forgotten a few things that really help make the whole painting process go a little easier. Here is a quick list in case you are about to embark on your own painting project. Most of them are probably common sense, but obviously I needed some reminding, so maybe this will help someone else!
1) Keep a damp rag nearby to wipe up any stray drips or smudges.
2) Investing in higher quality brushes and rollers is really worth the extra money. They put the paint on more quickly and do a better job which requires less do-overs.
3) A roller tray liner means no pan clean up at the end of each day. I’m usually beat by then and really appreciate just being able to pull out the liner and toss it!
4) A paint can pour spout helps you pour the paint into the tray with less mess AND keeps the paint out of the rim of the can so the lid doesn’t stick once it’s put back on.
and lastly…
5) Nothing beats natural light. Sometimes it’s better to just call it a day when you lose your light as you will probably wind up re-doing anything you try to paint without good light.
Got any great tips or products you recommend? Leave them in the comments – I have several more rooms I need to paint!
So are you ready to see the finished product????
Remember before the walls were really light tan and I was trying to accent with sage towels and rugs? The towels kept changing color with use and it was hard to find exact color matches.
Now the walls are a sage color and I accented with white towels and rugs that I picked up at the Lands’ End Harris Park sale. (Want some white towels for your bathroom? I’m giving away several sets this coming week!!)
I am thrilled with the way this project turned out! What do you think? Will you be more likely to try a new color knowing you can sample it first with a Glidden tester? Now to decide what to do about the vanity – replace it, paint it??
Disclosure: This project was part of a compensated shop for Collective Bias and Glidden Testers. The rugs and towels were provided to me by Lands’ End. All opinions are my own – as always!

Great job! I love the color you chose and it does make a difference. My advice is don’t have the kids help. You will be tempted but they will make it harder to get it done

I love your new color, looks great! You can always try painting the vanity and if that doesn’t work then get a new one. Good luck!

Beautiful – quite spa-like! LJ isn’t going to be looking for a mud mask or anything right…?? 😉
