Visitors to Milwaukee have a ton of hotels to choose from if they want to stay downtown. But what if a visitor wants to stay outside the city a bit? What if their reason for visiting, either business or family, is north of the city? The new Delta Hotels Milwaukee Northwest located in Menomonee Falls is the perfect solution!
I was invited to check out both the hotel and Waterlin, the attached restaurant last month. I was actually pretty familiar with the location when it was owned by Radisson and had even hosted events there. However, when Delta Hotels took it over, they gave it quite a facelift and it now has a whole new modern feel.
When you check-in, you are greeted by a bright and airy foyer with individual registration kiosks rather than a counter. I really like this style as it feels more personal. The foyer is also home to the business center where you can hop on a computer or print off any paperwork you might need.
One hallway leads to the elevators, pool and fitness room. Another hallway brings you to the event rooms and a third leads to Waterlin with its coffee bar and bistro.
Our meal at Waterlin’s Bistro was fabulous. The restaurant offers an homage to Wisconsin’s ice harvesting past and feels homey, yet sophisticated. The menu boasts both hearty, mom-inspired meals and healthy, chic dishes that are locally sourced whenever possible.
We ordered a classic Bloody Mary (delicious!) and Waterlin’s own WA__F_OWER which is a refreshing blend of botanical gin, pomegranate, elderflower, and seltzer. And be sure to ask your waiter about why all the “L”s are missing from the drink menu! We started with some of the best calamari I’ve ever had. The light batter was perfect and they were done to perfection.
For our entrees, Jay ordered the fish and chips (also light and done perfectly) and I treated myself to the scallops. One thing I miss living in the Midwest is really good seafood and now that I know Waterlin knows how to make such good seafood, you can bet I’ll be back!
For dessert, we were really hoping to try the Back ‘Round the Campfire sharable s’mores but they must be really good because they were already sold out. We chose the creme brulee and blueberry cobbler instead and got over our disappointment as soon as we took our first bites of each. Perfection!

I stayed in a Double Queen suite which was roomy and spacious. The suite consisted of a kitchenette, a living room area, a bathroom and a bedroom with two queen beds. The couch in the living room folds out to sleep an additional two people if needed.
