Got a Star Wars fan at home???

Then you NEED to check out Hollywood Studio's Star Wars Jedi Training Academy! During this 30 minute live action show, young Jedi are coached by the Jedi Master in correct use of the Force and their light saber. But, keep alert, there is a disturbance in the Force...before you know it, Darth Vader appears and tests the young Jedi on their technique. This was probably Little J's ...

Goin’ Wild at Disney’s Animal Kingdom

We spent Wednesday at Animal Kingdom. Last year, I remember this being my least favorite park. I think it probably had a lot to do with the fact that it was HOT and rainy, because we had a blast this year! We headed right over to Expedition Everest which is an amazing roller coaster (as long as you don't mind racing backwards in the dark). After two rides on Everest, my stomach informed me that ...

Just one of the things that Disney does absolutely right…

Today was a day spent at Epcot (or as Little J calls it "The Place with the Giant Golf Ball"). We had a blast *literally* at Mission Space where we launched on a mission to Mars. The 2G blast off almost cost me my breakfast, but the guys rode it over and over. Next we sped around test driving GM vehicles at Test Track. If you are going to do this ride, FastPass it early as it fills up quickly. ...

My son was reprimanded by a giant duck.

We arrived in Orlando yesterday afternoon. We gathered our luggage and our car and headed out for a lunch at Bahama Breeze (yummy fish tacos!!). We settled into our resort and did some quick grocery shopping for the necessities, had dinner and hit the hay. Little J woke up around 5:30 this morning. Yes, 5:30. Ouch. We spent the day at the Magic Kingdom where we rode the various "mountain" rides ...

About Me

I'm Maureen, aka Wisconsin Mommy, a thirty-something mom living just outside of Milwaukee. I live with my husband, Big J, and my six-year-old son, Little J (or LJ).I used to be an elementary teacher but decided to stay home when LJ was born. I spent many of those early years on the computer (usually Googling whatever I was panicking about at the moment) and discovered the world of Mommy Blogs. In ...

Help with keeping your kids safe on the Internet

There are quite a few aspects of Little J getting older that kind of scare me: getting a driver's license, being offered his first cigarette, that type of stuff. I'm sure most parents feel the same way. These days, we have another fear to add to our already long list - danger on the Internet. It seems like another story pops up every few days - teens lured away to meet up with older men, kids ...

Do you have questions about how to deal with your child’s behavior?

I've spent the last decade or so working with students, teachers, and parents in a variety of educational capacities and settings. During these years I have had countless numbers of parents approach me looking for advice on how to handle their children. When I first started teaching, I didn't quite know what to make of this request. I clearly remember a single father near tears as he asked to me ...

Disney Vacation – Days five and six

By day five, we were beginning to think that the vacation was going by waaaay too fast! We realized that we only had two real days left as we flew back home fairly early on day seven. We decided to head back to the Magic Kingdom for day five since Little J seemed to enjoy it the most. We arrived as it opened and headed toward the back of the park. On the way, we came across a small, fairly ...
