Last night, the three of us bundles up and popped down to Milwaukee for an evening on the town. We started our night at Joey Buona’s, a restaurant that I have been wanting to check out since it opened, but never managed to.
Let me start by explaining that, since I moved to the Milwaukee area, I have been searching for some really good, authentic Italian food. I got spoiled by my years in Boston when I could stop into just about any restaurant in the North End and have great food. I have tried so many Italian restaurants here and, while many are good, I hadn’t found that great one yet.
Now I have. Joey Buona’s did not disappoint! You can enjoy family style meals or order individual entrees. Either way, make sure that you are hungry going in, because the portions are more than generous. (I personally highly recommend the grilled salmon!)
After eating, we wandered over to the Public Market to stroll around and let our meals settle and grab some coffee and a chocolate heart for Little J.
Then we were off to Disney on Ice. The show was amazing. It had Olympic quality skating with all of the music, choreography, and special effects that Disney has become know for. The large production numbers were just amazing and it was great to see the expression on Little J’s face.
The set was so much more than what you would expect to see from a travelling ice show, but I should have figured that everything would be top of the line – this IS Disney! The show included all of your favorite movie characters and even a real-life recreation of the “It’s A Small World” ride from the theme park. (Little J’s absolute favorite part was when the army men from Toy Story pulled a present out onto the ice and opened it to find Buzz Lightyear. )
A HUGE thank you to Matt Walsh and FELD Entertainment for providing us with the tickets – we had a blast!!
Disney on Ice will be playing at the US Cellular Arena through Sunday. There are still lots of great seats available through Ticketmaster so take the family down and create a great memory!
