The Hiding Place will hit North American Theaters August 3rd and 5th and then be released in worldwide cinemas on August 16th.
Is this the same as the previous movie about Corrie Ten Boom?
If you’re old (like me), you may be familiar with the 1975 cinematic version of Corrie Ten Boom’s beloved memoir of her family’s story of putting their lives on the line to hide Jewish refugees at the height of World War II. Or maybe you’ve read the book and not seen the movie. This version of The Hiding Place is a completely new telling of Ten Boom’s story and came about after the live stage play received an overwhelmingly positive reception in Nashville where it continuously sold out. This production is a cinematic presentation of the stage adaptation of The Hiding Place. Like a play, it’s performed on stage. But like a movie, the camera is up close and personal, giving it the feel of a traditional feature film.
What is The Hiding Place about?
World War II. Darkness has fallen over Europe, and the boots of the Third Reich echo through the streets. But on a quiet city corner in the Netherlands, some choose to resist. Corrie Ten Boom and her family risk everything to hide Jewish refugees by the
hundreds, and they ultimately face the consequences when they are discovered. The Hiding Place is their story—a story of faith, hope, love, and forgiveness in the face of unthinkable evil.
Is the movie appropriate for children?
Of course, every parent needs to take into consideration their child’s ability to comprehend and process something as profoundly disturbing as The Holocaust. That said, the movie is not violent and spends more time highlighting the goodness and faith found in its characters than the horror of the times. There is no nudity, graphic violence, or foul language. The movie would be a great activity for homeschool groups or church groups to attend together and then have a discussion afterward.
Where can I get tickets for the movie?
