I tend to be pretty brand-loyal when it comes to the things I buy. This can sometimes result in me mindlessly putting items in my cart, buying them, and putting them away without really looking at them carefully. Normally, this isn’t really an issue but sometimes it can cause me to miss things that I later wish I hadn’t.

Take our toilet paper and paper towels for instance. We have been using Scott brand for both of these for as long as I can remember. I stock up when there is a good deal or coupon, stick them into our storage room to use when needed, and pretty much don’t give it a second thought. Well, it turns out if I had looked at the package lately I would have seen that there is a program called “Scott Shared Values” which has exclusive offers of coupons and other deals and rewards.
Right now, on specially marked packages of Scott paper towels and toilet paper at Walmart, you can find a code inside for a $4 code to Vudu.

If you are not familiar with Vudu, it is a video service that allows you to stream popular movies and TV shows through any Vudu enabled device. (These include Playstation 3, Xbox 360, Roku, iPad, Android, and select enabled TVs.) What I especially love about Vudu is that there is no monthly fee like many other video services so you are only paying for what you use. Vudu has a lot of current releases too, like Safe Haven and Silver Linings Playbook.
I headed off to Walmart to stock up on some more Scott products since we were way overdue for a family movie night. (You can see the details of my Walmart shopping trip here.) I added my new acquisitions to the stock pile, well – after I cut the Vudu codes out of the packages! The codes expire 7/31/13 so I don’t want to take a chance on letting them expire.
I grabbed the first Vudu code and redeemed it by going to Walmart.com/scottsharedvalues.

Once I clicked on “Get Your Movie Now”, I was routed to a page where I could put in my code.

We then had tons of movies to choose from.

While I wanted to see Safe Haven, I was out voted by the three males in the family. Since we had to pass on an invitation to see a new Lego movie at Legoland this weekend, we decided Lego Batman was a great choice. We popped some popcorn, powered up the Roku and settled in on the couch.

I think I may set aside a few of the Scott Shared Values Vudu codes for myself – I’d like to catch a few chick flicks, you know?

Hmmm…. until today I’ve never even heard of vudu. Paper goods being cross-promoted with video service, I’ll have to investigate! =D
