When I lived in New Hampshire, one of my favorite places to take visitors was Stonyfield Farms which was the next town over. You are probably most familiar with their yogurt, but they now have a whole line of dairy products that are even being sold out here in Wisconsin. YoBaby Yogurt was Little J’s first taste of yogurt and he has grown to love it.
I like Stonyfield’s philosophy. They were organic before organic was as mainstream as it is now. They have always supported local organic farmers and considered what impact their company’s actions have on the land around them.
Now I have a reason to like them even more.
You see, it turns out that many recycle centers do not recycle #5 plastic (the kind that yogurt comes in). The folks at Stonyfield Farms have teamed up with Eric Hudson, who founded Recycline in 1996, and started recycling yogurt containers into Recycline’s Preserve toothbrushes, tongue cleaners, and razors.
That alone is great, but the green goodness doesn’t stop there. You can print out a free mailer from Receline’s website and return your used products which will then be recycled AGAIN! The recycled products will be turned into building material used for park benches and decks. You may be sitting on some one’s recycled toothbrush. (You can catch the whole process on Discovery Health’s Get Fresh With Sara Snow.)
The Preserve toothbrush is available at Target for $2.04. Plus, MomCentral has printable coupons for $1.00 off of two toothbrushes. Want to try one for free? Thanks to MomCentral and Recycline, I am giving away a free Preserve toothbrush for you to try for free. Just leave a comment before July 22nd. One commenter will be selected to receive a free toothbrush courtesy of MomCentral and Recycline. Additional entries may be obtained by linking your blog to this post – just let me know that you have linked. (Please be sure that I have a way of contacting you if you win.)

I am constantly complaining about our recycling center taking barely any plastic. I am so glad someone is doing something with that plastic!!
