I like wine. In fact, I kind of love it. But do I actually know anything about wine? No, not really. I can’t tell you what wine pairs best with what meal and I probably don’t use the right words to describe how it tastes, but I know what I like. I’m actually pretty picky about which wines I like and which I don’t. When I find one I like, I write it down and tend to stick with my five or so favorites.
Of course, this does limit me a bit. I am not very likely to branch out unless I am introduced to a new wine through a friend or event. I’m not one to grab a new bottle of wine and think “Hey, I’ll try this!” nor do I attend many wine tastings (although maybe I should start).
When I was offered a chance to try a two month membership to the California Wine Club, I thought it might be a really good fit for me. I liked the idea that they would be sending me wines that they had already identified as “good” ones. Okay, I should elaborate on that. These aren’t just “good” wines, they are award winning wines. They are hand crafted wines that you wouldn’t be able to get in your local liquor or wine store even if you knew what to look for. Most of these wines are only available at the winery where it was crafted. Check them out at www.cawineclub.com!
I can share that I loved the wines I received in my first shipment!

I tend to gravitate toward red wines and am not usually very enthusiastic about white wines except for cooking with them. I wasn’t at all surprised when I loved the Tempranillo at first sip. But I was thrilled when I discovered that this Sauvignon Blanc was amazing!! Apparently everyone else thought so too – it was barely on the table when I looked up and noticed that everyone’s glass was empty (and the bottle almost was too!)

So what are the advantages to being a California Wine Club member? Their website explains it best!
A California Wine Club membership makes a great gift for the wine lover on your list or the person who likes wine, but doesn’t know a whole lot about it (like me!). Be sure to check back here often, as I will be giving away a gift certificate to California Wine Club!!
This post was brought to you in partnership with California Wine Club. I was given a complimentary two month membership to facilitate my review. All opinions are my own.

Wine. That’s all I need. No real preference depends on what I’m eating/in the mood for.
