The Weekend in Review

We had already planned to head for the Dells this weekend when Kelly, one of the owners of Bean Sprouts, invited us to stop by her cafe and have Little J participate in a cooking class. We happily accepted and planned a stop near Madison to break up the ride to the Dells.

Little J absolutely LOVED the cooking class (it helped that we were paired up with another wonderful family who are regulars in the class). The kids made cone dishes from scratch and then apple cinnamon ice cream that was delicious. What a wonderful experience. I only wish we lived closer so that we could sign up for more classes. Hey Kelly…we’d love a Bean Sprouts in Milwaukee!!!

We enjoyed a delicious lunch before hitting the road again. (I highly recommend the spinach and Gruyere wrap.) Little J had what he proclaimed the “best mac and cheese ever”. Shhh – don’t tell him it was whole wheat. We’re not the only ones who digg Bean Sprouts’ healthy menu, check out the press they’ve been getting here. Big thanks to Kelly and the crew at Bean Sprouts for having us for lunch and the class!!

We continued on to The Great Wolf Lodge where we had been invited to the grand opening of MagiQuest. MagiQuest is an interactive adventure game. Each player is given a wand and then enters an enchanted kingdom where they are able to use their wands to find treasure, solve puzzles and even slay a dragon. Little J was especially thrilled to discover that the magic wand brings to life several “displays” in the hotel lobby and restaurant.

We were also treated to a fabulous dinner at the newly opened Pizza Hut in the hotel. I had been seeing all the ads for the new Pizza Hut pasta and was curious to actually try them (they are really good!). We had a blast enjoying the waterpark and local attractions before heading home Sunday evening.

Thanks to Great Wolf Lodge for hosting us this weekend!
