5 Steps You Can’t Skip When Getting Ready for Spring

stockupandsave

This post is part of a paid partnership with Walmart.

When warmer weather arrives (like it finally has here in Wisconsin), people seem to come out of hibernation. After a winter where everyone only gives each other a quick wave as they dash to their cars in the subzero temps, people finally emerge from their houses and visit one another.

Maybe this is where the idea of spring cleaning came from? The realization that people are more likely to stop by and the season of tons of kids going in and out and in again is about to begin. The urge to get rid of all the winter grime and make things fresh for spring.

You could spend days prepping for spring and summer. Weeks even. If you are a busy mom like me, you don’t really have time to spend days spring cleaning and prepping, so here are a few basic tasks you really need to get done and a few tips to help them go more smoothly.

  1. Wash winter clothes before storing them away until next year. You will want to make sure that any stains are washed out before putting clothes away or they will set and you will never get them out. Use a good quality detergent like Tide Liquid to make sure clothes are thoroughly clean before storing them.tide at Walmart
  2. Give the fridge a good cleaning. Take everything out and throw away any expired items. Take this opportunity to wipe down the shelves with soapy water and paper towel. Using a quality paper towel like Bounty makes the job easier as it won’t fall apart on you.
  3. Replenish toilet paper rolls in each bathroom. Warmer weather usually equals more kids in and out of my house and more little people using the bathrooms. I like to make sure there are plenty of extra rolls within easy reach of the toilets. Using a Charmin Ultra Strong Double roll means a longer time between empty rolls!charmin at walmart
  4. Dig out the plastic cups and plates and wash them off. Warm weather means meals outside and plastic dishes and lemonade! The patio cutlery has been hiding in the back of the cabinet and will need a quick dip in warm water and a squirt of Dawn dish detergent before making its spring debut.
  5. Get shorts ready and shave those legs. Hey, we all get a little lazy in the shower during those winter months. No judgement here!! But warmer weather means shorts and it’s time to break out the Venus Sensitive Disposable razor and make those legs summer ready. And hey – while you at it, how about making sure your summer smile is super white and healthy? You can easily stock up on Crest toothpaste while you’re at it!crest at walmart

The only thing good about winter is you could wear pants so you don’t need to shave nearly as often LOL. I guess I am ready for summer and shaving my legs again.

Shave those legs for sure. There are a lot of people who skimp on that all winter so this is a definite must.

The cleaning is my least favorite part of Spring! I have started a bit of it but still have a few rooms to go.

Wash winter clothes before storing them? Why have I never thought of that??! That’s a great idea. I just wonder though, will they still smell musty after they’ve been in a suitcase all summer?!?
