Making Frozen Hot Chocolate

We discovered the Washington County Fair when LJ was just a toddler. We didn’t want to brave the crowds at State Fair, but still wanted to have some fun and the Washington County Fair was just the right size.

One of the things we discovered that year was the man in the trolley selling frozen hot chocolate by the exit gate. I had originally stopped thinking I would get some iced coffee, but when I saw the frozen hot chocolate I was intrigued.

I tried some and it was absolute heaven in a glass. I was hooked. Each year, we hunt down the trolley-man and buy a frozen hot chocolate on our way out.

Then I stumbled across a recipe for frozen hot chocolate in a magazine and gave it a try. Success!! Now I can make frozen hot chocolate at home – and so can you!

You’ll need:

Hershey’s Chocolate Syrup

evaporated milk

vanilla extract

ice

a strong blender or smoothie maker

If you’re watching your calories, you can use Lite or Sugar-Free Hershey’s Syrup and fat-free evaporated milk.
Put 1 cup of evaporated milk in the blender…

Add 1/2 cup of Hershey’s Chocolate Syrup…

and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract.
Add 3 cups of ice…
and blend until it is mixed thoroughly and is smooth, but spoonable.
Spoon into a mug and garnish with whipped cream and a drizzle of chocolate syrup on top.
And enjoy!!
