Disney’s The Odd Life of Timothy Green – A Review #TimothyGreen

Last night, my family was given the opportunity to attend a screening of Disney’s The Odd Life of Timothy Green which will open in theaters nationwide on Wednesday, August 15th.  The movie stars Jennifer Gardner (one of my favorite actresses), Joel Edgerton and CJ Adams in addition to many other familiar faces.

Without giving away too much, the movie is about a couple faced with infertility and trying to come to terms with the idea that they may never have the child of their dreams.  To help them cope, they write down the characteristics their dream child would have and place them in a box which they then bury in their garden.  The next morning, an odd boy appears in their home and begins calling them mom and dad.

The story continues to unfold as the town and its residents react to this boy with strange leaves growing out of his legs and even stranger ways.  People of all ages can find something to relate to in the story, whether it’s parents nodding along as Cindy and Jim find themselves fumbling through the many “firsts” parents face, or whether kids relate to feeling less than perfect when trying a new sport.  It’s full of touching moments, funny moments, and moments that make you think.

The movie is rated PG, but does not have any scary scenes or questionable content.  The themes and issues may be of more relevance to older kids rather than the younger ones who might enjoy the animated Disney movies.  The three year old sitting behind us was lost during parts of the movie and found it hard to follow.  However, you can safely bring any member of the family (including Grandma) to The Odd Life of Timothy Green and not fear blushing in embarrassment or having to answer any awkward kid questions later.

You can keep up with the talk about the movie by “liking” THE ODD LIFE OF TIMOTHY GREEN on Facebook or following it on Twitter.

Still not convinced? Take a look at this quick sneak peek!

My family and I were allowed to screen the movie in order to write this review. All opinions expressed are my own.
