I participated in an Ambassador Program on behalf of Influence Central for Sprint. I received a Sprint device to facilitate my review as well as a promotional item to thank me for my participation. All opinions expressed (as well as my awe of the LG G4 camera) are authentically my own. Seriously, I love this camera…
As a “social media mom”, having a great smartphone is kind of a must for me. I’m super picky about the features I think I good phone should have and I’m not willing to sacrifice any of those for cost or convenience. At the very least, a good smartphone needs to be easy to operate, support all of my favorite apps, and take great pictures.
When I first received the LG G4 from Sprint, the first thing I did was check out the camera. I had heard through the grapevine that this phone had a superior camera, but I had chalked all the hype up to the fact that this camera packed in the megapixels. (seriously – can we say a 16 MP rear facing camera and an 8 MP front facing one???) Yes, the increased MPs are awesome – this means I can snap a picture with the phone and actually have it blown up to poster size if I want!
But that is such a small part of what make the LG G4’s camera so amazing!!
The LG G4’s camera has manual controls and is the first phone camera I’ve ever used that has that capability. Keep in mind, I just started learning how to use my DSLR’s manual controls a few short years ago (and still have a lot to learn) but my photography has improved SO much just from knowing how to adjust the focus and balance. I generally don’t carry my big DSLR around with me and there are so many times when I kind of wish I had it with me but wind up making due with a basic phone camera shot. NOT ANYMORE!! Seriously, with the manual options on this camera, I have all the same control that I do with my DSLR. Color me impressed!!
Check out my video demo of the phone’s manual controls here.
And know you are probably wondering how much an amazing phone like this is going to cost you, right?
Believe me, I get it. I won’t even tell you how much I spent when I upgraded my DSLR. My first thought was that this phone would run around the same amount. But Sprint has this really cool program called Sprint Lease where you can snag the LG G4 for just $18/mo for 24 months. And if you are outfitting the whole family with phones, you can grab the Sprint Family Share Pack plan (say THAT five times fast!!) and share 20GB of data plus unlimited talk and text for just $100 a month. Check here for a store near you.
Oh – and if you’re someone who is concerned about texting and driving (and you should be!!)…
I love, love, love this app!! Sprint Drive First is a free app (yes – I said FREE!!) available on phones like the Sprint LG G4 that automatically sends calls to voicemail and silences other alerts when it senses it is moving 10 mph or faster. Can I get an “awesome!!”? You can tell that Sprint is invested in helping to curb the texting and driving issue that is so common with our young people. In fact, they’ve partnered with DoSomething.org with the Thumb Wars campaign. Maybe you’ve heard of it?? It’s been around for 5 years now and encourages young people to use the power of their thumbs to stop the texting and driving that is going on. Here’s how it works:
– Young people sign up at ThumbWars.org and receive two pairs of yellow anti-texting thumb socks.
– Then, they pick a friend or loved one they know who texts and drives and share the socks with them in a surprising way.
– They snap a pic of themselves and their friend wearing the thumb socks and send it back to DoSomething.org
– Young people can also share important texting-and-driving stats (available onThumbWars.org) to educate their friends.
