A while back, I was talking to a friend of mine from church and the conversation wandered to The Chosen which was part way through the release of season 2. She invited me to join a bible study that was focused on the show and was using that season’s companion guide. I agreed, even though I didn’t know anyone else in the group (which is usually a hurdle for this introvert).
I fell in love with the group almost instantly. The nine other people in the group are some of the best people I know and I now consider each and every one of them friends. The conversations that happen are deeply personal as well as spiritually enlightening. With such a great group, I am sure that our conversations would be thought-provoking even if we were just sitting around the local coffee shop, but having The Chosen guides to help shape our discussions and bring up aspects that we might have otherwise overlooked has played a huge part in helping us to dive deeper into the show and the scriptures that inspire it.
We just finished working our way through season 3 and are anxiously waiting to dive into season 4 when it becomes available to stream. The exciting news is that God’s Goodness for The Chosen (the bible study for season 4) is now available to purchase! I had the opportunity to check out a preview copy and was not disappointed.
God’s Goodness for the Chosen is an eight-lesson Bible study for individuals or groups that follows each episode of season 4 of The Chosen. This study teaches readers how to reframe their hardships and see them as fertile soil for God’s goodness to grow in their lives.
We see it over and over again in the Bible: God brings good things out of bad things for the sake of His people and for His glory. But truth be told, when we personally experience suffering, we have a difficult time actually believing it. Yet, life is challenging even for the followers of Jesus, and hardship in the twenty-first century is no exception. God’s Goodness for the Chosen takes readers through eight lessons that reveal how God uses suffering to bring about good things in the lives of those He loves.
