Do you remember what it was like being a teen? That time when you cared oh-so-much what everyone else thought about you and even more about what they thought of what you looked like? I remember wearing clothes I really didn’t like because they were”in” and trying desperately to rock the blue lipstick because it was the 80’s and everyone was doing it. (We can all admit we looked like corpses, right?) I love that Josh has waaaay more confidence as a teen than I did at his age. Sure, he will wear items that are considered “in” by his peers, but only if he actually likes them too. (We might have a large collection of vans gracing our front hall.) He has developed his own style and rocks it no matter what anyone else says about it. One of the things he developed an opinion on really early was his hair. I used to have the hair stylist give him a typical boy cut, pretty short all the way around. I don’t remember when he first started saying he didn’t like it that way anymore – fourth grade maybe? He started wanting it longer and longer, and before I knew it it was rocking a Justin Bieber look!
People always commented on his hair but he never got self-conscious about it. He knew what he liked and had the confidence to rock his own style. He recently decided he wanted to go a bit shorter for the summer. We found a style he liked online that had a little bit shorter sides but kept some decent length in the front. We headed to his stylist and showed her the picture and she went to work.
Once he had his shorter cut, his stylist mentioned he might need a little help getting his hair to behave the way he wanted and he should probably pick up some product to try with it. We stopped by CVS and checked out what AXE hair products they had to offer. We weren’t exactly sure which product would give him the specific look he was hoping for, so we grabbed several.
There is a great deal at CVS right now where you can save through June 13th. Buy one of selected AXE hair care products and get the second at 50% off. Also, receive $4 ExtraBucks® Rewards!
Josh set out to try all the different products we had picked up. It turns out there is a lot of work involved in getting that “messy” look!
But I just love the confidence he feels when his hair comes out the way he wanted and he can express his individual style.
If you have a teen boy at home, I’d love to hear what items he uses to help build his personal confidence!!
