What does summer mean to you? At our house, along with more relaxed bedtimes, almost daily cookouts, and the wearing of the swimsuits, summer means more kids in and out of the house all day long. Being the control freak conscientious parent that I am, I am happy to have Josh’s friends over here to play so I have at least an inkling of what is going on.
Of course, additional kids means a few other additions too like all that extra dirt tracked into the foyer. A few more mouths to feed means extra dishes, and more kiddos around means more use of the guest bathroom. I don’t mind a bit because that is a small price to pay for hearing laughter and the other happy sounds of kids playing wafting in my office window while I work.
I make it a point to plan ahead for the summer and stock up so we aren’t caught short on the things we need to be a good host. I love that my local Costco has all the products I need to keep my household running smoothly no matter how many friends come over. Since we are at Costco all the time picking up milk, eggs, and other snacks, I just toss a few P&G staples in the cart too!
I depend on Swiffer Dry refills to keep my floors clean no matter how many sneakers are running across them! They are great for grabbing all the dust and pollen that comes in the open windows as well. Since I go through a ton of these each week, I like being able to grab a big box of them at Costco.
Having more kids in and out of the bathroom means going through toilet paper a little faster than we are used to. We grab a huge bundle of Charmin Ultra Soft rolls and make sure there are always extras next to the toilet so no guest is ever left stranded.
Tween boys seem to be bottomless eating machines, am I right? While it’s fun to come up with creative and healthy snacks for them to help themselves to, the sink seems to be constantly full of dirty dishes! Grabbing a nice large bottle of Dawn Platinum Advanced Power means I can tackle those dishes quickly and with a minimum of effort.
Last summer, my biggest challenge was (believe it or not) the refrigerator door. Whoever came up with the idea of a textured WHITE door handle obviously never had kids! I scrubbed and scrubbed using soap and everything else I could think of and it never looked clean. The picture on the left below is after I washed it with regular household cleaner. Someone finally suggested I try using a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser on it and it came out looking like new! I was so excited and made sure to toss a box of Magic Erasers in my cart while I was shopping.
If your summers mean increased kid (or even adult!) traffic through your house, I hope you’ll check out the huge line of P&G products at Costco and have gotten some ideas on how they can make this summer run a little more smoothly.
