What do you think of when you think of Sauder furniture? If you are anything like me, you probably associate Sauder with those pieces of furniture you bought when you first had your own place. I think my first apartment had at least four Sauder bookshelves and a Sauder desk.
Once Jay and I moved into this house, we made a few major purchases at our local furniture store – bedroom sets, living room couches and tables, a new kitchen table and chairs with cushions. We honestly didn’t even give Sauder a thought.
I recently was offered the chance to pick out a few Sauder pieces to try in our home and I almost turned it down because I honestly have all the bookcases I need and already have a desk I love. Luckily, I headed over to the Sauder website and checked out their latest offerings before I answered.
I found that Sauder.com offers SO much more than just desks and bookcases. Seriously – there isn’t a room in the house that you couldn’t outfit with at least a few Sauder pieces. I was impressed by all of the color offerings and various styles. It took me quite a while to go through everything that is offered on the website.
Then I had the opposite problem – instead of not being able to find anything I wanted, I was now having trouble narrowing it down to stay within my budget. I wanted everything!
Since that kitchen table I mentioned before is expandable, we often pull out the extra leaf when we have a lot of company. The table provides lots of room, but we are always short chairs. I’ve been searching for some extra chairs that blend well with the ones we already have for when the table is extended, but also are nice enough looking to be used as extra seating in the living room or my office when the table is back to its regular size.
The Parsons Chairs from the Shoal Creek Collection were the perfect solution to my dilemma. The black upholstery matched the cushions on our current chairs perfectly and the faux leather finish made them easy to clean – perfect for the dining table.
Since I had a little bit of my budget left over, I hunted down one of those ottomans that doubles as extra storage space. We always need extra seating or a place to set food and/or drinks and the Large Storage Ottoman was the perfect solution.
I placed my order and the boxes showed up vial UPS in just a few days. I loved how easy both pieces were to assemble. Both came with clear directions and all of the hardware and tools that were needed. I needed Jay to help with the chairs as holding the seat and back together while turning the screwdriver was a bit challenging, but nothing required any expertise that the average person wouldn’t have.
I’m going to have a blast putting my new pieces to the test. I hope you’ll keep your eye out for a follow up post in the near future when I update you on how my new Sauder pieces are working out and also highlight some other uses for them!
