Despite the fact that Mother Nature keeps dumping snow on much of the country, Spring is actually here. And in my house (like many others) Spring means a deep clean to chase out those last reminders of Winter! Hey, they don’t call it Spring Cleaning for nothing…
But Spring Cleaning can be a big project, especially if you tackle it without a plan. Today I am partnering with my sponsor, Rug Doctor, to help you get your Spring Cleaning under control and make it as easy as possible. At my house, the floors take the brunt of the winter abuse. Even though we are pretty good about taking our shoes, boots, and snow gear off when we first enter the house, we somehow manage to track in epic amounts of grime and spread it over the hard floors and carpets. (We like to blame it all on the dog, but he actually stays pretty clean.)
I love having squeaky clean floors but really hate the amount of time it takes to make that happen. And that goes double when talking about giving the carpets a deep clean – what a project! It seems like the options are either to pay a bunch of money to hire a company to come in and clean the carpets all at once (which in our case means piling all of the furniture in the kitchen area until the carpets dry – disruptive to say the least!) or rent a carpet cleaner and do them myself. I do like that the second option allows me to do one room at a time at my own pace. But I don’t love the whole renting a machine that lots of other people have already used. I’ve borrowed other people’s home carpet cleaners but found they left the carpet really wet and it took forever to dry.
Enter the Rug Doctor FlexClean®. If you are like me, you’ve been familiar with Rug Doctor for a really long time and have come to trust their products to give your rug a deep down clean. But this newest addition to the Rug Doctor family is its own creature and does it ever battle dirt in your home!! I love that this one fabulous appliance cleans both my hard AND soft surfaces! My laundry room is not all that big and that is where we store our vacuums and other cleaning appliances so having just one that does so much saves me room in there as well! It included their special cleaner as well as an upholstery attachment.
The Rug Doctor FlexClean® came with everything I needed to get going right out of the box. I was provided the main machine (the only assembly required was removing one screw and snapping in the handle – easy peasy)! It comes with two nozzle attachments – one nozzle for carpets and one for hard floors.
Using it was super easy. I just snapped on the nozzle for the surface I wanted to clean (in this case it was our laminate floors).
Then I turned the switch to “hard floor” and I was ready to go!
Using it is just as easy! Whether you are cleaning hard floors or carpet, just move it forward while holding down the trigger on the handle, release, and move the machine back over the same strip. I was blown away by the suction! My hard floors were pretty much instantly dry. When I tested it on the carpet, the carpet was left significantly drier than it was when I used other home carpet cleaners. (There are options for a deep carpet clean or just a surface one.)
Once I was done, I got to experience what RugDoctor calls “disgustifaction”. You see, Rug Doctor had promised that the “proof is in the pour” but I had cleaned my floors just a few days before the FlexClean arrived so I didn’t think I’d see much improvement. I assumed I had gotten most of the dirt up with my quick mop job. Yeah, I was wrong. Check out what I saw when I emptied the tank into the bathtub….ewwww.
I was equally horrified at the dirt that had been left behind and satisfied that it was now OFF my floors, hence my “disgustification”! My next spring cleaning project is going to be freshening up our couches with the upholstery attachment. I’m a little afraid what is going to come off of those as they’ve never been done in the *cough* 15 years *cough* we’ve had them.
