Patriotic Red White and Blue Jello Shots

Memorial Day, The Fourth of July and Labor Day mean fireworks, picnics and parties on the patio. I’ve mentioned before that I love serving Jello shots for patio parties because I don’t have to worry about any broken glasses and they are so easy to carry (and everyone knows what a klutz I can be). This holiday, be the hit of the party with these colorful and tasty Patriotic Red White and Blue Jello shots!

Yields: 12 (3 oz) shots

Ingredients

  • 3 cups vodka divided
  • 3 envelopes Knox unflavored gelatin divided
  • 3 cups boiling water divided
  • 1 3 oz box blue berry JELL-O gelatin
  • 1 3 oz box strawberry or cherry JELL-O gelatin
  • 1 14 oz can sweetened condensed milk
  • Whipped cream for garnish
  • Patriotic star sprinkles (I love Celebrations by Frey) for garnish

Instructions

DIRECTIONS FOR BLUE LAYER

  • Add 1 cup of vodka to a large mixing bowl. Sprinkle 1/2 envelope of Knox gelatin on top of the vodka and allow it to “pillow” for 2 minutes.
  • Pour the berry blue gelatin into the bowl. Add 1 cup boiling water and whisk all of the ingredients until the gelatins are dissolved.
  • Allow the gelatin to cool for 5 minutes. Pour into each of your dessert shooter glasses, filling 1/3 of the way. Chill for 1 hour.

DIRECTIONS FOR WHITE LAYER

  • Add 1 cup of vodka to a large mixing bowl. Sprinkle 2 envelopes of Knox gelatin on top and wait 2 minutes.
  • Add 1 cup boiling water and whisk until the gelatin is dissolved.
  • Pour in the sweetened condensed milk and stir well to incorporate. Cool for 5 minutes.
  • Pour on top of the blue jello layer, filling 2/3 of the way. Chill for 1 hour.

DIRECTIONS FOR RED LAYER

  • Add 1 cup of vodka to a large mixing bowl. Sprinkle 1/2 envelope of Knox gelatin on top of the vodka and allow it to “pillow” for 2 minutes.
  • Pour the strawberry (or cherry) gelatin into the bowl. Add 1 cup boiling water and whisk all of the ingredients until the gelatins are dissolved.
  • Allow the gelatin to cool for 5 minutes. Pour on top of the white layer, filling the top layer close to the top of each glass rim. Chill for 1 hour.
  • Immediately before serving, add whipped cream on top of the jello shooters. Sprinkle patriotic star-shaped sprinkles on top.
  • ENJOY!!
