If you’ve been following me for a while here at Wisconsin Mommy, then you’ve probably picked up on my preference for using natural remedies whenever possible. Certain seasons really like to test my resolve on that issue and cold and flu season is one of them!
We try to keep our immune systems strong and avoid catching colds and coughs to begin with, but sometimes you just can’t help getting sick. When that happens, we sometimes make our own cough and cold remedies and sometimes use natural store bought remedies as well. Often, when others in the house get sick, I catch it too and don’t always feel up to whipping up one of my homemade remedies. That’s when we are thankful for reliable and wholesome store bought options.
While this post is part of a sponsored relationship with Maty’s, once I had a chance to try the product I was completely impressed and fell in love with it. All opinions expressed are my own. Any benefits of Maty’s organic cough syrup that I am describing are my own observations and experiences.
Back when I was first teaching full time, I would catch every little bug that came around until my immune system caught up. My first year in an elementary classroom I caught bronchitis three times in one year. THREE TIMES!! My doctor ordered a prescription cough medicine and I learned that I cannot stomach liquid codeine. (This was again confirmed when I had my tonsils out a few years ago.)
The first time Josh was prescribed liquid codeine (adenoidectomy) we learned that his stomach has the same aversion that mine does. Since I am not a fan of giving him alcohol or narcotic medications – or taking them myself – I love that Maty’s has neither of these as ingredients.
Maty’s Organic Cough Syrup is also certified organic (which also means no GMOs – yay!!) which I love. In addition to not having alcohol or codeine, Maty’s also does not contain gluten, dairy, soy, wheat, artificial preservatives, color additives, or sweeteners. You might wonder how it tastes then, right?
Maty’s tastes amazing!!
The base of Maty’s cough syrup is buckwheat honey. (Because of this, please do NOT give to any child under the age of 1.) Other immune boosting ingredients include apple cider vinegar, cinnamon, and even cayenne pepper. While these are often recommended as remedies when you are sick, I am often at a loss on how to take them all in a “tasty” way. Somehow, Maty’s has managed to blend a huge list of healthy ingredients together and make them yummy! These immune boosters are what set Maty’s apart from some of the other honey-based remedies on the market.
Check out the full list of ingredients here:
And what I love most about Maty’s might be what’s NOT in it. Seriously, have you ever read the ingredients of some of those other cough medications you can buy at the store? Eek.
But don’t just take my word for it – try Maty’s yourself and see if I’m right! You can find Maty’s at tons of stores including Walmart, Amazon.com, Drugstore.com and most supermarkets – too many to list! And coming soon to Target – yay!! Check here and see if your favorite retailer is one (and if not, march in there and ask them to start carrying Maty’s!!).
Maty’s has a whole line of natural products for a variety of ailments, so be sure to pop over and check out their website. You can also connect with Maty’s on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Pinterest.
