This past weekend, I had the opportunity to sit down and chat with John McLemore, the President and CEO of Masterbuilt. In between talking business, he shared with me his secret to making the best hot dogs you’ve tasted.
He told me to boil the hot dogs in a can of Coke before throwing them on the grill! I had never heard of that technique before. He said the Coke will caramelize and form a sweet coating on the outside of the dog. I’m looking forward to wowing some guests at my Memorial Day barbecue with this secret recipe – thanks John!!
If you’re interested in discovering more of John’s down home style recipes, you’ll want to check out his cookbook,Dadgum, That’s Good! It contains tons of recipes for smoking, grilling, frying, boiling, and steaming that will leave your family asking for more.
John invited me to come talk with him at the IHHS and learn more about his company and cooking tools. He gave me a copy of his cookbook with no expectation of a review or coverage. I just happen to think it’s really cool. (And so does Paula Deen – check out the forward.) This post contains an affiliate link.
