Last night I had the opportunity to attend a private friends and family preview of the new Fleet Farm store in Oconomowoc. Thanks to our sponsored partnership, I can share with you a quick overview of my experience and what I learned!
Prior to moving to Wisconsin in 2000, I had never heard of Fleet Farm. Not surprising since I was on the East Coast and Fleet Farm serves the Midwest states of Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, and North Dakota. My first trip into a Fleet Farm came when we had first purchased our house and I needed to run out and grab something for the house. I can’t even remember what it was now, but it could have been just about anything because Fleet Farm carries just about everything! I was struck by how helpful the staff was – because good customer service is something you DO remember.
After having spent some time hearing Fleet Farm’s management team talk about the store and their mission yesterday, I now get that the great service I received was not a fluke. It is a company-wide mission that starts at the top and is evident at every layer of the organization. For me at least, THIS is the biggest thing that sets Fleet Farm apart from the many other stores in the area. So many times I have walked into other stores with a question and found employees who knew less about the department I was standing in than I did – and that is saying a lot! When you walk into the Oconomowoc Fleet Farm, you will find a knowledgeable employee in the sporting goods, automotive and hardware departments – no matter when you go in. That is a rare find these days!
Beyond great customer service, you will find fishing, hunting, outdoor products, more auto parts that you can shake a stick at, farm and pet supplies, home improvement supplies and tools, household goods, clothing, footwear, toys, and even food. Plus there are great services like gasoline, a car wash, and auto repair (need new tires???). You can even get a new key for your car as well as a new remote programmed just for your vehicle.
There are five new Fleet Farms opening up over the next few months – Oconomowoc, Eau Claire, DeForest, Delavan, and Sioux City, Iowa. Each new store brings about 150 new jobs to the community and provides immeasurable value as a wonderful community partner.
