Cookies and Cream Popcorn

I love popcorn and flavored popcorn is one of my favorite treats! I like to go beyond the typical kettle or caramel corn and experiment with different and exciting flavors. When I saw that Oreo O’s cereal* was back and available at my local Hy-Vee Store, I decided it would be the perfect way to create a cookies and cream popcorn recipe. (I had tried it a few years ago using actual Oreos but think this recipe came out much better.)

To make Cookies and Cream Popcorn, you will need: a box of Oreo O’s cereal (click here to find it near you), popped popcorn, and white chocolate.

To start, measure out a few cups of popped popcorn. You can pop your own or use an unflavored bagged popcorn. Put the popcorn in a large bowl.

Next, melt some sort of white chocolate. I used a Cookies & Cream candy bar, but you can use white chocolate chips or even almond bark. When you melt it on the stove, be sure to keep the heat low or you will wind up cooking the chocolate rather than melting it.

While the white chocolate is melting, put some of the Oreo O’s cereal into a ziplock bag and crush it with a mallet or rolling pin. You can even use the base of a bowl if you don’t have anything else.

Once the white chocolate is melted, drizzle it over the popcorn a little at a time. Alternate sprinkling the crushed Oreo O’s cereal,  drizzling the white chocolate and stirring the mixture.

Allow the final product to set for at least an hour and then transfer to an airtight container where it will keep for up to a week. Or eat it up and don’t worry about storing it!
