Chocolate Swirl Sundae Ice Cream
One of my favorite treats during the hot summer weather is ice cream. While there are lots of delicious ice creams to buy at your local supermarket, nothing tastes as creamy and refreshing as homemade ice cream. I didn’t try making my own for years because I was sure it had to be super complicated. Turns out, it really isn’t at all! I started off making basic recipes like vanilla and strawberry ice cream until I felt ready to branch out on something a little fancier like this Chocolate Swirl ice cream recipe:
Ingredients
1 Cup heavy cream
2 Cups whole milk, divided
¾ Tsp vanilla extract
¾ Cup granulated sugar
5 Egg yolks
¼ Tsp salt
¼ Cup chocolate fudge sauce
Directions
In a saucepan, over medium heat, mix the heavy cream and the milk.
Incorporate the sugar and the salt and keep mixing until everything in well incorporated. Remove from the fire.
In another bowl whip up the egg yolks and slowly pour the milk mixture while mixing.
Pour into your ice cream maker, drizzle with the fudge and churn according to the instructions of the manufacturer.
Tips
Top with a drizzle of chocolate syrup and some peanuts. You can also add 3 tbsp cacao powder for a chocolate ice cream base.
