Can you believe I made it all the way through college without ever having a Jello shot? Yep, it’s true. I didn’t have my first Jello shot until I was hanging with my mom friends. (They are such a bad influence!!) Now that I have discovered the yummy goodness that are Jello shots, I’m all about exploring new flavors and creations. These caramel apple Jello shots have become a fast favorite!!
These Caramel Apple Jello shots will make a great addition to any halloween party or Fall get together. (For adults only, obviously!)
They are really easy to make and will impress any guest!
Caramel Apple Jello Shots
Servings 1 dozen
Ingredients
- 3 oz box Jolly Ranchers green apple gelatin
- 1 cup boiling water
- 4-5 ice cubes
- 1/4 cup Sour Apple Pucker
- 1/4 cup green apple flavored vodka
- 1/4 cup salted caramel vodka
- Caramel topping I used Smuckers
Instructions
- Pour the gelatin powder into a medium mixing bowl. Add the boiling water and whisk until the gelatin is dissolved.
- Add the ice cubes, Sour Apple Pucker and both vodkas. Stir well until the ice cubes are melted.
- Pour the gelatin into each shot glass but not all the way up to the top of each glass - you will want to leave room for the caramel sauce.
- Chill for at least 2 hours.
- Remove the shot glasses from the refrigerator and add the caramel sauce, filling up to the top of each glass.
- Keep chilled until ready to serve.
- ENJOY!!
Pin for later!!!

I just made these, can’t wait for them to be done 🙂 I always make a caramel apple drink with these ingredients minus the jello; SO GOOD! Thanks for the recipe!

More of a question over s comment. I made them for Halloween do I haven’t tried it yet but after overnight refrigeration I found the Carmel hasn’t hardened. Is this how it should be?
Maureen Fitzgerald says
Hi Carrie – thanks for your question! Because you are using caramel topping rather than actual melted caramels, it does not get solid the way melted caramel does when cooled. I think that would make it hard to get the shots out of the glasses which is why I prefer the topping option.
Carrie Penny says
Do you need to use apple pucker AND apple vodka, or can you use just one?
Maureen Fitzgerald says
Hi Carrie – I’ve only ever used both. If you do try just using one, you’d need to adjust the amount. If you try it, pop back over and let us know how you liked it!!
Toni Beal says
Can I sub unflavored gelatin can’t find jello
Berkeley says
Did you try it with unflavored?? I also can’t find the jello flavored
Maureen Fitzgerald says
A lot of the flavor does come from the apple Jello, so I don’t know how it would taste with unflavored.
Leslie Kobbe says
Do you put in the Carmel on after the jello is set up? Or before you refrigerate?
Maureen Fitzgerald says
After it is set up – otherwise it sinks to the bottom.
Czarina says
Is there a way To substitute the vodka for whiskey
Maureen Fitzgerald says
You can, but it will change the taste considerably.
Katelyn says
Question: do you use a clear caramel vodka? I’m having a hard time finding one. Can infuse my own caramel vodka but it won’t be clear and am worried it will alter the clear/crisp green color.
Maureen Fitzgerald says
Smirnoff has a clear one called “Caramel Kissed” which is what I use.
Deneida Menefee says
Pinnacle has a salted caramel vodka
Shala says
Can you substitute the glass shot glass for the plastic jello shot containers?
Maureen Fitzgerald says
Yes, just be careful not to break it!
Mindy says
I could not find Green Apple gelatin anywhere! I bought unflavored and found some green apple “powder” at a candy store. Any idea how to use it in the gelatin?
Maureen Fitzgerald says
I have no idea – I’ve never worked with that before! I did see that Sonic has a green apple gelatin out this year and grabbed a few boxes of that:https://amzn.to/3UJxoLk

I’m going to make these today for a party tonight. I’m more adept at making pudding shots and make a Caramel Apple one with the Sucker’s Caramel topping that is a fan favorite. I’m not a vodka fan, so I’m going to see if I can find a clear Caramel rum or Caramel liqueur instead. I found the Sonic green apple geletin at Walmart. But I’m guessing it’s seasonal.

Are these messy to eat?
