Start out by picking up some high quality ground beef – Swift Angus available at Roundy’s will do very nicely. Mold the ground beef into patties about a half inch thick.
Choose your stuffing. Personally, some of my favorite combinations are: sauteed mushrooms and swiss cheese, sauteed spinach and feta cheese, cheddar cheese and real bacon bits, or sauteed mushrooms and onions. Be creative! Like spicy flavors – how about using Jalapenos ro a spicy cheese.
Lay one patty out and place the stuffing in the center. Be sure to keep about a 1/2 inch ring around the edge of the patty stuffing-free.
Lay another patty on top and gently press the edges together – you may need to pinch them to form a good seal.
Fire up the grill and cook until the internal temperature registers that they are cooked through. (Be careful when flipping them – they can fall apart easily if not handled with care.
Enjoy and have a wonderful Fourth of July!
