It seems that in “Blogger World”, summer season is synonymous with conference season. I know that I attend more conferences in the summer than any other season. Coming up on my schedule are Type-A (just around the corner!), Brands and Bloggers, and BlogHer (would LOVE a sponsor for this one! *hint, hint*).

Each of these conferences is a chance to meet and connect with tons of other bloggers and brands. You meet all of these great people and think to yourself “I’ll remember their name and what we connected about”, but the truth is you won’t. That’s why some very smart person waaaay back in history invented business cards! Make sure that you are fully stocked up on business cards with all of your updated information on them.

Here are some other tips to make sure you get the most out of the business cards you collect and give out at conferences:

Write on the business card (right away if possible) a few key things you and the person who gave you the card talked about. It can be as simple as “has the same kind of puppy I do” or even a campaign idea you spoke to a brand rep about.

Keep the business cards in a safe place in your bag and keep them separate from your own cards. I can’t even tell you how embarrassed I was when I met a new blogger and handed her my card (I thought) and then realized I had given her a card someone else had handed me just minutes before.

Design cards that have a visual reminder of who you are. Some folks put a small picture or their avatar on them, others have the header or other image from their blog. Be creative (but stay professional) and make it unique to you.

Make sure your cards are professional looking. If you are not comfortable designing them, have them professionally designed. Have them printed by a quality printer – you want them to look and feel like the professional you are!
